Genres
One per act, with a color that runs through the whole library.
Genre in Trellis belongs to the Artist. One genre per act.
Color
Every genre carries a color you pick. That color becomes the spine on a recording card, the bar down a browse row, the ring around an act’s portrait, and the face of the genre’s own tile. Browse has a Genre filter too.
An act with no genre shows a neutral gray.
Creating a genre
A genre is a row with its own page, listing every act assigned to it, and it has a name, a color and a description.
Two places create one:
- the New genre form, reached from the + on the Genres page
- the Genre field on the Add Recordings form, where a + Create genre row has to be clicked.
Everywhere else picks from genres that already exist, including the genre field on an artist’s page.
Assigning in bulk
The Genres page links to Assign Genres: one list of every act, sorted by recording count, with a picker on each row. It shows the acts with no genre by default, and each pick saves as you make it.
