Joining someone else's library

Pasting an invite, what you get, and what the owner sees.

Someone sends you an invite. You need Trellis installed.

Joining

Click Join a library in the app header. If you have joined one already, open the library menu there and pick Join a library… instead.

Paste the whole invite, address and code joined by a #, and click Join.

Ten bad attempts in fifteen minutes stops further tries for a while.

Their library then appears in that header menu, and you switch between it and My Library from there.

What you get

The sidebar has Browse, Search, Recently Added, their collections, and the venue, artist, musician, event and genre lists. Catalog pages arrive whole, with biographies, photographs and lineups. Every list of recordings on them is filtered to what you were given.

Lineage, source notes, checksum results and personnel come through. All of it is read-only. Audio arrives as MP3 at 256k.

Stars you add are stored on your machine, and they gather in a Favorites shelf in the sidebar while you are in that library.

What the owner sees

The owner sees when your copy last connected, and a list of the recordings you started playing, with the time of each.

Leaving

Open the library menu and click the × beside the library. A new invite lets you back in.
