Inviting someone to your library
Making the one string a peer pastes, and taking access back.
Invites are made on the Sharing page, which you reach from Settings with Manage sharing.
Before the first one
Fill in Public address at the top of that page. It is the address a peer’s copy of Trellis will try to reach. Without it, an invite comes out as a bare code.
The address is written into each invite as it is made. Change the address, and make a fresh invite to go with it.
Making one
Click + Add peer and give the person a name. It is your own label for them.
Under Access, tick Share my library. Under Invite, click Create
invite. You get one string: your address and a code joined by a #.
Copy it right then. The string cannot be shown again. If it goes missing, make another.
An invite works more than once and keeps working until it expires, so the same string can enroll a second machine. Make a separate peer and a separate invite for each person you share with.
Taking it back
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Cancel on an unused invite | That one code stops working. Anyone already joined is untouched. |
| Revoke access on a peer | Every grant and every device that person holds stops at once. Restore access puts it all back. |
An invite marked Used stays, and the access it created is still live. The Invite block counts the machines that peer has joined from.
